Community Outreach

Mistee has been a Member, Director and Executive Officer for a number of Non-Profit Corporations in the Tri-Cities, including Soroptimist, Powerful Connections and The Emmaus Counseling Center.

Since 2006, Mistee and her husband Ryan have partnered with the CASA/Guardian Ad Litem Program to collect gifts for children in the foster care system in Benton and Franklin County. This is a project that the couple is passionate about as they both started their legal careers working in the Juvenile Court system.

Ms. Verhulp has served as a volunteer "judge" for both Crime Stoppers and Muscular Dystrophy fundraising events in both the Tri-Cities and Yakima. It is also a part of Mistee's legal practice to take on cases Pro Bono when there is a need.

In general, it is the lifestyle of Mistee and her family to participate in community fundraising events such as food drives, clothing drives, charity auctions and dinners, races, bake sales and carnivals. This philosophy is shared and embraced by her partners at Smart Law Offices and has resulted in the firm participating in local parades, volunteering for the Tri-Cities Habitat for Humanity Women's Build Project, projects and/or funding for the Sexual Assault Response Center of Kennewick, ARC of Tri-Cities, and natural disaster relief projects as needed.
