THIRD PARTY CLAIMS
A third party claim is a lawsuit brought by a defendant in an original lawsuit, claiming that another new party being brought in is responsible for or should share in the plaintiff's damages against the defendant. For example: an injured worker may also be eligible to seek damages through a third-party claim. A third party could be the manufacturer of a defective product, a physician whose negligence worsened a workplace injury, or a landlord who failed to address unsafe property conditions.
